Our History

The Gholson ISD Board of Trustees and Gholson Independent School District agreed to add Agriculture and CTE courses to Gholson High school in 2015. The Gholson FFA was chartered and developed first in 2016 by Agriculture Science Teacher, Mr. Tyler Ketchum, Superintendent, Ms. Pam Brown, and Principal, Mrs. Heather McCartney. The chapter was led by Mr. Ketchum, a first year teacher from Tarleton State University, and a primarily senior officer team that year that helped move the chartering process seamlessly.

In 2016, Gholson had 29 FFA members and held 1 voting delgate. The Gholson FFA received their Official charter at the 89th Annual Texas FFA Convention on Thursday, July 13, 2017. It was a bitter-sweet ending for the 2016-2017 Chartering Gholson officer team. 7 out of the 10 Gholson FFA officers were seniors.

The successful chartering of the Gholson ISD Agricultural and FFA program is dedicated to those students, faculty, administration, community, and board trustee's for putting their faith into the hands of these hardworking students and a first year agricultural science teacher. You will always be called, "The First Team" of Gholson FFA.
